White on white challange
So i thought i would try entering the simon says stamp challenge
it cant hurt to try right?
I redid a different version of my mother days card, using butterflies instead of flowers and think it turned out nicely. The stamp is from docarfts, urban stamps. I love them! I used memento london fog ink and added some sticky pearls for a bit of bling. I love white on white, so simple yet elengant.
Heres hoping people like it :-)

Stamping and distressing
Ive been having fun lately with the new urban stamps from docrafts. In the first card I used the mum stamp with my dew drop olive grove ink and made a white on white card with punched leaves and flowers. A few pearls on the flowers give it a bit of elegance. I do love simple and clean cards.
The second card I made with the other stamps from the docraft set with the same inkpad. I thought the green went nice with the purple and kept it simple again. This simple layout seemed to work pretty well.
The last card and tag I made having fun with my new distress ink pads. I used vintage photo to distress the torn edges and think it gave a good look.
Ive recently become acquainted with simon says stamping and noticed they've put up a new challenge today of white on white. I think i will try entering with a similar card like the mothers day card. Fun fun fun!

Leo the Little man
So here is the little guy that has kept me busy the last 6 and a half months. Leo Morris Hicks born 14th August 2012... 16 days late. Yes he was way too comfy in there!
Its amazing how much your life changes with a baby and how much love you have for them. I suppose you have to love them that much to put up with all the sick, dribble, dirty nappies, sleepless nights, un soothable crying.
Its all worth it for that special little person :-)

What a difference 3 years make
Wow its been three years since I posted on this blog and lots has changed. Firstly and most importantly, I gave birth to a little boy we called Leo. He is 6 months old now and the centre of our world.
The next biggest change is that I've started up making and selling cards and tags since being on maternity leave. Its amazing how much your outlook on life changes when you have a baby and motivated me to do something I always wanted to do. At the moment its just a small hobby on the side but it would be nice if it could become a part time or even full time job in the future. I suppose we will have to see :-)

Recent knits
Now that im half way through the summer holidays, Ive been busy knitting away and trying new things, particularly lace knitting.
This is my current progress on the Wakefield Diagonal Lace Scarf by Melissa LaBarre here, which I though would be a good start for a beginner like me...and it is! I think it will look a bit better once blocked...hopefully

Ive also been making a bunny that is not yet finished but will post photos once its completed. Only have the fabric on the ears left to complete.
I have recently completed some yoga socks (Knit Today issue 44 spring 2010) for my friends bday....which was back in March!! I had completed the one sock for her bday and gave an I.O.U for the second one. I feel really bad that its taken so long! It was the first sock I had ever knitted and with 4 colours, which I cut after each colour change and had to weave in the ends after knitting. I now realize that there are better ways to do this now and am wiser from the experience however intend to start making people present weeeeeeell before their bdays! Ive learnt my lesson hopefully.

Here is a shrug I started in the Easter holidays and have started on again. Its the Five-way-cable-shrug by Lily M Chin here. I like the fact that it has buttons that allow you to change the way you wear it. Hopefully it will be done for winter considering how fast I knit LOL

A couple of older knits I have done were the cider jumper for my fiance Elliot here which was done over a couple of nights in the pub on our camping holiday in Easter. It was freezing cold..especially in the tent and the only warmth I got those two weeks was in the on site pub which had a large open log fire and made lush hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream mmmmm!

The fingerless mitts below are the Fethcing pattern by Cheryl Niamath from Knitty here that are very popular and so fun to knit! It was the first project i did with cables...and my first mitts!

Card making
Last year I started knitting after a colluege at school started and I soon became 'hooked'. I knitted a couple of basics such as a hat, scarf and mittens and later moved on to make toys for others. Soon after I became interested in other crafts such as a card making and sewing and other paper crafts but for now will just show a couple of cards I made in March.
These were made with paper from the 'Simply cards and paper craft magazine issue 67'. For my first attempt at making cards I think they turned out pretty well :-)
